Privacy Policy

We take the privacy of the people who contact us seriously. This policy explains what information this website collects, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have. We have written it to be read, so if anything is unclear, please ask us.

Who we are

This website is run by Africa Ocean Bridge Maritime Operations Group Limited (“AOBMOG”, “we”), Sakumono-Lashibi Road, Accra, Ghana. We are responsible for the personal information collected through it, under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

What we collect

When you request a quote or send an enquiry

Your name, company, email address and phone number, the service you are interested in, and the details you give us about your shipment or request, such as origin, destination, cargo, volume, timing and how you heard about us.

When you use our online assistant

The messages you type. If you ask the assistant to pass a quote or callback request to our team, it also collects your contact details and shipment details, as above. Please don’t share passwords, payment details or identity documents in the chat; we never need them there.

When you agree to analytics and advertising cookies

Information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, the device and browser you use, your approximate location based on your IP address, and how you arrived, for example from a search or an advert. We only collect this if you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner.

When you visit any page

Our hosting provider processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type, which is needed to deliver the website to you and keep it secure.

We do not ask for identity documents or payment details anywhere on this website.

How we use it

• To respond to your enquiry, prepare a quotation and follow up with you about it
• To answer the questions you ask our online assistant
• To understand how visitors use the site and how well our advertising works, if you have agreed
• To keep the website secure and working properly
• To meet our legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell your information, and we will not add you to a marketing mailing list without your agreement.

We use your information because you have asked us to respond to you, because it is needed to take steps towards a contract you may enter into with us, because you have given your consent (for cookies), or because the law requires it.

Who we share it with

Your information is seen by the AOBMOG staff who need it to help you. We also use trusted service providers to run the website and our business, who process information on our behalf:

• Odoo, our customer relationship system, where quote requests and enquiries are recorded
• Google Workspace, our business email, which notifies our team of new requests
• Anthropic, which provides the AI model behind our online assistant and processes the messages you send it in order to reply
• Vercel, which hosts this website
• Google Analytics and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for site analytics and advertising measurement, only if you accept cookies
• Google Maps, which provides the map on our Contact page. Google may set its own cookies when the map loads

We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires us to, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Information stored outside Ghana

Several of the providers above store or process information outside Ghana, for example in the European Union or the United States. We choose established providers that protect personal information under contract and apply recognised security standards.

Cookies

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. The site works in exactly the same way whichever you choose. We store your choice in your browser so we don’t ask again on every page.

If you accept, these cookies are set:

• Google Analytics (_ga and _ga_ cookies): tells us how visitors use the site
• Meta Pixel (_fbp): tells us how people find us through our advertising on Facebook and Instagram

You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, we remove these cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

How long we keep it

We keep quote and enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond to you and to manage any business that follows, and for as long as the law requires us to keep business records. After that, we delete or anonymise them.

Our website does not keep a record of your conversations with the online assistant: a conversation ends when you close or reload the page. Details you ask the assistant to pass to our team are kept as described above. Analytics data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in our Google Analytics account.

How we protect it

The website only works over a secure, encrypted connection, access to your information is limited to the people who need it, and we use established providers with strong security. No system connected to the internet can be made completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will act quickly if anything goes wrong.

Your rights

Under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, you can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy
• Correct information that is wrong or incomplete
• Delete your information, where we no longer need to keep it
• Stop using your information for a particular purpose, such as marketing
• Withdraw your consent, for example to cookies, at any time

To make a request, email info@aobmaritime.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

This website is for businesses and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our website or the way we use information changes, and show the date of the latest version at the top of this page. Please also read our Terms of Use.
